Last week of phase one!!! On friday I get my dollar ride in the T-6 and we transition into phase two. 12 hour days in the flight room, only being allowed to leave for the restroom, the simulator, and to fly. Sounds daunting, right?
Last friday we had a class picnic with 11-05. They are the class we are replacing. They brought the beer and we brought the burgers. It was a good time and the upper class gave us some good information.
In seven weeks, I've taken 8 test covering about sixteen hundred pages of information. Pheww. That's probably more studying than I've done… ever.
There's a tradition called the “Offering” that we took part in yesterday. The idea is that if you buy your Instructor Pilot's (IP’) beer, they will be nicer to you. So… Everyone in the class gave $100 (that's $3000!) and I took two guys out to a beer store. We only bought nice beer in hopes of making them even more happy and agreeable. Thankfully, we didn't have to spend all of the money to fill the back of two pickup trucks with premium beer! How much does it cost to buy beer for two flights of IP's? $1400. Then we dropped it off in the flight room. Fun Times.
I had my first OFT today. OFT stands for Orthographic Flight Trainer. It's a giant sphere with 5 projectors composing a 290 degree view. It was really awesome! When you make a turn, even though the trainer is sitting still, you feel like you're rolling!
That's all I have for now. Enjoy the pictures!
