This was a short week! After the 4 day weekend, we had to hit the books hard. Things are starting to pick up academically. An instructor told me: “In the beginning, you don't know what you don't know. Unfortunately, once you figure out what you need to know, you're already behind.” How's that for motivation?
I had a test on aerodynamics on Thursday. It went well. These Air Force test are miserable. There's basically two question types: where all the answers sound right, and where they all sound wrong. I can't talk about the specific questions, but let me give you an example:
You are _____? A. a person B. an individual C. a human D. a composition of organic material
They are all right, right? Wrong. One is more right than the others. What ever you guessed as the right answer is wrong. Not only is it wrong, but the computer based test will then take you to the lesson containing the answer, where it has been highlighted, boxed in red, and enlarged for emphasis. It's as much fun as poking yourself in the eye with a stick (about as helpful too).
Enough of that.
I had two sims this week. They went over basic things like “where's this switch?” and “in what order do you do a descent check?” It's really helpful, but they make you wear your oxygen mask the whole 1.3 hours! That wouldn't be so bad, except the connection for the hose is just… a hole.
The sims are huge!
