In-processing and Housing

In-processing and Housing

Today was a pretty good day. I had been sitting on my butt deep in my parents basement during the summer and have gained about 15 pounds of unwanted flub. I decided the best thing to do is to start being more active. I woke up today at 06:00 for a short run to get my day started right.

Nick, Durham, and I went to the monday 08:00 brief after I cooked them eggs on my new George Foreman grill. The brief was pointless… and I've heard it's like that every week. It's a weekly information giving session that every pre-pilot has to goto on mondays. They didn't have any information for us.

Then we went to in-process. It took a long time because the only had one Lt. there doing the paper work. I over heard him talking to a guy that just got back from IFS and failed out about how he had failed out too. I felt pretty bad for the guy. That is until he asked me to stick around and help put computers together that they had taken apart to pull up the carpet. That took until lunch and then I had to come back for an hour after that. As a side note: he also asked the two guys that got their in-processing information before me to help out too. They said that they needed to go to housing first and that they would be back. They never came back!! That, in my opinion, is pretty ballsy for a new guy to do.

While I was putting the computers together, I talked to a second Lt. that was in week 8 of SUPT. He told me that there is no rush to get my paperwork done before I go to ASBC. That's in January! So the guys and I decided that we'd take the rest of the day off. Before we did, we talked the housing lady and found out that our apartments should be ready tomorrow or Wednesday. Woot!

After another run, a mexican diner in town, and a stop at a very informative local TV store, we came back to base and just relaxed the rest of the night.
