Today I woke up and went to the housing office. After a few minutes of filling out paperwork, I had my new key. I spent the rest of the day getting settled in: moving stuff in from my car, going to Walmart, the dollar store, etc… It was pretty tiring. The apartment is only one large room with a bath room and kitchen. The kitchen is large enough for one (and only one!) person to stand in. For some reason, they designed the closet into the kitchen. It works, but it's different. The bed is a “extra long full-size bed” and it's considered a specialty bed. That means it takes specialty sheets. I decided just to buy queen size sheets and hope for the best. They work pretty well.
I took pictures with my camera. It has a panoramic feature that can slice three pictures together, so I hope that can convey the size of the room. It's… small. Not large enough for a couch small. I'm going to move off base as soon as they let me, which should be around the beginning of next year. I did luck out though: the base just renovated the whole building, so theres fresh paint, light fixtures, and carpet. All in all, I'm happy with it for now.
There are pawn shops everywhere here. I took my .22 pistol to one today to get rid of it. The base doesn't let anyone keep their gun in the Unaccompanied Officers Quarters. They have to be check in with Security Forces and you have to get 5 pieces of paper signed to make it official (one has to be signed by the your commander). I decided that that was too much hassle for a gun I haven't shot in forever.
